Join OHMC and other local sanghas for a water ceremony
Saturday November 11
Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens
Dear OHMC Sangha Members,
The Engaged Mindfulness working group would like to invite our sangha to join other sanghas in a gathering to celebrate and meditate on the water element as a life-giving, spiritual force.
We will gather at the beautiful Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens, 1900 Anacostia Ave, SE, Washington, DC, 20026, on Saturday, November 11 at 1:00 pm (Rain date on the next day, Sunday, November 12 at 1:00). Please meet us at the parking lot no later than 12:50 pm.
In an effort to foster community within the maha-sangha, several sanghas have been invited to join us: Chesapeake Earth Holders; Sugarloaf Mountain Mindfulness Community from Barnesville, MD; The Well Community from Poolesville, MD; Stillwater Mindfulness Practice Center from multiple areas in MD; True Names from Baltimore, MD; Cloud Floating Free Sangha from Charlottesville, VA; Freedom Garden Sangha from Richmond, VA ; and Salt Marsh Sangha from Eastern Shore, VA.
The gathering will involve a short reading about water, a sitting meditation, a walking meditation, and a segment in which participants will be invited to share the personal ways they would like to celebrate the water element: a song, a poem, an artifact, a short story, etc. If a sangha brings many of its members, one person may do that for their whole group.
The event will end at 4:00 pm, when the park closes.
Please bring your own snack and drink, and a cushion or chair for sitting meditation, and anything else you may need to meditate comfortably. Boots may also come in handy if it has rained.
Also, the Earth Holders will join Magda during the sangha gathering on Monday, November 13 at 7:00 pm when she will facilitate on the topic of water mindfulness. The Earth Holders will conduct a water blessing exercise.
Please email Magda at magdacabrero@yahoo.com by November 4 if you are planning to attend.
A Lotus For You,
The Engaged Mindfulness Working Group (Camille, Gloriela, Magda, Phyllis and Sheila)
