We invite you to join us this September for a end of summer mini mindfulness retreat!
We will practice living in the present moment, enjoying each breath in order to come home to ourselves. During our 4-hour retreat, we will benefit from guided deep relaxation, mindful movements or outdoor walking meditation (weather depending), a short silent meditation, a talk by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, and time to share our experiences with each other in community.
Practicing in this way brings so many benefits including experiencing deep rest, generating joy, and composting our difficulties into self- and other compassion.
The Opening Heart Mindfulness Community seeks to foster understanding and compassion by providing vibrant and generous opportunities to practice mindfulness within a diverse community in the Plum Village tradition, founded by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. We recognize that in supporting racial and social justice equity within our sangha and throughout the mahasangha, we support the work of transformation individually and collectively.
We know the benefits of having a wide diversity of experience in our sanghas and so we welcome any and all people. We welcome you of any race, shape, size, neuro-diversity, gender expression or form. We welcome you especially if you have ever felt sidelined or marginalized for any reason.
We will offer a platform for people to arrange to carpool to the studio if you don’t have transportation (we are not monitoring this so ridesharing isn’t guaranteed).
Our mini retreat will take place at Circle Yoga 3838 Northampton St NW, Washington DC in Studio 2. Space is limited to 20, so please sign up early.
