Saturday, March 1
12:30 - 4:30pm EST
In person
We invite you to join us on March 1 for a four-hour in-person half day of mindfulness facilitated by Annie and Camille, and supported by DeeDee and Gerry.
Faced with so much suffering and the relentless news cycle, you may be asking yourself, “Why should I stay in the present moment?” If you are feeling unsettled with all that is happening in the world and are looking for a space to come together, please join us. We will practice grounding ourselves in the present moment, facing the issue of suffering head on, reflecting on interbeing and impermanence, and transforming our fear and anxiety into compassion and resilience during these challenging times.
During our time together, we will enjoy a guided deep relaxation, mindful movements or outdoor walking meditation (weather depending), a short silent meditation, a recorded talk by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, and have time to share our experiences with each other. Snacks and tea will be provided.
Because we know the benefits of having a wide diversity of experience in our sanghas, we explicitly welcome people of all races, shapes, sizes, neuro-diversities, gender expressions, sexual orientations and anyone who has ever felt sidelined or marginalized for any reason.
We will offer a platform for people to arrange to carpool to the studio if you don’t have transportation (we are not monitoring this so ridesharing isn’t guaranteed).
Space is limited, so please sign up early.
The Opening Heart Mindfulness Community seeks to foster understanding and compassion by providing vibrant and generous opportunities to practice mindfulness within a diverse community in the Plum Village tradition, founded by Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. We recognize that in supporting racial and social justice equity within our sangha and throughout the mahasangha, we support the work of transformation individually and collectively.
