Dear friends,
The OHMC Engaged Mindfulness working group would like to invite our sangha to join other sanghas in a gathering to celebrate and meditate on the water element as a life-giving, spiritual force.
Where:
Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens
1550 Anacostia Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20019 directions
When:
Saturday, November 11
Begins: 1:00 pm (meet in parking lot no later than 12:50 pm)
Ends: 4:00 pm, when park closes
*Rain date Sunday, November 12, same time
In an effort to foster community within the maha-sangha, several sanghas have been invited to join us: Chesapeake Earth Holders; Sugarloaf Mountain Mindfulness Community from Barnesville, MD; The Well Community from Poolesville, MD; Still Water Mindfulness Practice Center from multiple areas in MD; True Names from Baltimore, MD; Cloud Floating Free Sangha from Charlottesville, VA; Freedom Garden Sangha from Richmond, VA ; and Salt Marsh Sangha from Eastern Shore, VA.
The gathering will involve a short reading about water, a sitting meditation, a walking meditation, and a segment in which participants will be invited to share the personal ways they would like to celebrate the water element: a song, a poem, an artifact, a short story, etc. If a sangha brings many of its members, one person may do that for their whole group.
The event will end at 4:00 pm, when the park closes.
Please bring your own snack and drink, and a cushion or chair for sitting meditation, and anything else you may need to meditate comfortably. Boots may also come in handy if it has rained.
Also, the Earth Holders will join OHMC for Monday evening sangha (Nov. 13) to conduct a water blessing exercise. Magda will facilitate on the topic of water mindfulness. To read more and join us for Monday night sangha, click here.
A Lotus For You,
The Engaged Mindfulness Working Group (Camille, Gloriela, Magda, Phyllis and Sheila)
