Not Two

This Monday night, Mick will facilitate.

In the book Peace is Every Step, Thich Nhat Hanh shares that “When we want to understand something, we cannot just stand outside and observe it. We have to enter deeply into it and be one with it in order to really understand.”  He calls this kind of understanding “non-duality.” Not two. Now more than ever we can realize and feel the truth of inter-being. From the Corona Virus, to the civil unrest our thoughts, speech, and actions are connected and intertwined.

The forces of division are quite powerful and can be unsettling. As mindfulness practitioners we hold the intention to live with compassion, open heartedness and clear seeing. When the heart gets covered over and the mind gets stirred we have the practice of coming back to our body and our breath. We also have the practice of coming back to the heart and re-connecting with the heart to offer much needed kindness to yourself and others. This week we will practice a guided loving--kindness meditation to reconnect to yourself, those closest to you and even a person that it is challenging to you. By starting close-in we can awaken to the support that we have around us and open ourselves to connect with those we love and see our commonality beyond difference.

I look forward to our time together.
