We invite you to join our book program from Monday June 5 through Monday Aug 28. Each week we will read an excerpt in sequential order, completing the book the last week.

Please note there is no need to own the book or read the section in advance to enjoy the practice with us. Nor is there a need to attend every practice to benefit from the readings, as each Monday practice will continue to be a stand alone and complete practice. More details below.

Dear friends,

On each Monday night this summer, we will read a section of one of Thich Nhat Hanh’s books, which will serve as our meditation and dharma sharing topic for the evening. The book is Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet and this Monday we will start with pages 1 - 37.

This Monday, Andy will facilitate.

The book combines our mindfulness practice with environmentalism, showing us how we can make a real difference in saving our planet. It addresses how connecting with nature allows us to find harmony within ourselves while being inspired to live a more sustainable life and contribute to protecting our Earth.

Sharing quote from the book that is in our section for this week:

Who Am I?

I am the continuation of my parents. I am the continuation of my ancestors. This is very clear. I do not have a separate self. Looking into myself, I can see my father, my mother in every cell of my body. I can see my ancestors in every cell of my body. I can see my country, my people, in every cell of my body. I can see that I am made of many elements that can be described as non-me elements. I am made of non-me elements and, when these elements come together, they produce me. So I am that. I do not have a separate existence. I do not have a separate self.

We look forward to practicing with you.
