Dear friends,

Camille will be facilitating this Monday night July 12 with special guest Joe Reilly.  We are very happy to welcome Joe to sangha to share his music and mindfulness practice.  He will be sharing his music and  journey with us complete with song sheets to sing along which you are welcome to print or have on your screen at sangha. You are invited to come and practice and sing with us.

Please enjoy reading Joe's bio. below with some questions and invitations for the evening.

Joe Reilly is on a musical journey of faith and spirit. His songs touch deep reserves of compassion and joy within the hearts of his listeners, giving encouragement to others on the spiritual path and using music as a universal voice of communication and celebration beyond lines of religion. Joe was raised Catholic and currently studies and practices progressive Catholicism, Native American spirituality, and engaged Buddhism. Joe has been a student of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh since 2004 and is often found singing and writing songs on spiritual retreats. Joe uses his music to bring people together and build community across lines of race, class, gender, ethnicity, religion, age, and nationality. Joe is Italian, Irish, and Native American (Cherokee) and was raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan in a creative household by musical parents who encouraged him to find his own voice. Joe loves to inspire others to do the same and to water seeds of compassion, joy, wisdom, and peace in our collective consciousness through the sharing of his music.

Joe has recorded eight albums of his music, including three children’s albums of environmental and community songs, Children of the Earth (2007), Let’s Go Outside (2011), and The Circle (2016). In 2011 Joe was ordained into the Order of Interbeing by Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village Community. Joe currently practices with and co-facilitates the Building Beloved Community Sangha in Detroit.

This Monday evening after Joe shares his music and practice with us we will begin Dharma sharing with questions for you to consider, and if time questions for Joe will also be invited.

- How has music, art, drawing, or writing supported or inspired our mindfulness practice?

- What other practices help draw you together in community with others?

- What other ways might we share ways of watering seeds of compassion and love?

We look forward to seeing you on Monday night.

With love,

Camille
